Obama Again?!

President Obama is visiting Canada tomorrow. His apparent rock star status has the media buzzing, even though he'll only be here for five or six hours. Here are a couple of cartoons I did this week, for lack of anything more elaborate to post. For the uninitiated, poutine is a uniquely Canadian mess of french fries, gravy and cheese curds. About a gazillion calories in fat that I suspect becomes arterial plaque within three seconds of digestion. Looks disgusting and tastes great.


The plane was a lot of fun, although I kept getting the perspective and angles wrong, so I had to redo a few sections more than once. Frustrating but worth the effort.

My apologies for the time between posts recently, but I've been swamped with work. Big projects that I can't post until they're done, in addition to my usual editorial cartoons. This week, I've been getting ready to go on vacation, the first one in almost four years. I'm not complaining, because that's the price you pay when you're a self-employed freelancer, and I love what I do. But when the vacation does come, it is all that much sweeter as a result of the infrequency.

So my wife and I will be headed to the sunny Mayan Riviera for a week, and we plan to really enjoy it. Snorkeling in cenotes, soaking up the sun, drinking cervesa, and touring some Mayan ruins, all of which are some of my favorite things to do. We've seen Chichen Itza (when you could still climb the pyramid), so this time we're going to check out Tulum and Coba. Something about the ancient Mayans has always fascinated me so I'm really looking forward to this.
